Funding and wallets

Agencies on Mintfunnel run money through a central agency wallet and allocate budgets out to client wallets. Every movement is a ledger entry you can audit, and every dollar remembers where it came from. This article explains how funding works for both agencies and their clients.

The central agency wallet

The central agency wallet is the only place agency money enters Mintfunnel by card or other payment method. You cannot attach an agency payment method directly to a client wallet.

There are exactly three ways money moves:

1. Agency payment method into the central wallet. You top up the agency wallet with the agency's own payment method.
2. Central wallet into a client wallet. An Owner or Admin allocates funds from the central wallet to a specific client. This is an internal ledger transfer, not a new charge.
3. Client's own payment method into their own wallet. A client can add their own money to their own wallet using their own card or USDC, within any limits the agency has set on their account.

That is the complete list. There is no path from an agency card to a client wallet directly, and no path from a client's card to the agency wallet.

Allocating funds to a client

From a client's wallet page in your agency workspace:

1. Check the central wallet balance shown on the page.
2. Enter the amount to allocate and confirm.
3. The central wallet is debited and the client wallet is credited in one atomic step, and the allocation appears in both ledgers and in the activity log.

Once allocated, the funds are available for that client's ad campaigns and PR orders. Both spend types draw from the same client wallet.

Reclaiming funds

Allocated the wrong amount, or winding down a client? Owners and Admins can reclaim funds back to the central wallet, with strict limits:

• You can only reclaim your own agency's unused allocations. The reclaimable amount is shown on the client wallet page.
• You can never reclaim money the client added themselves. Client money is client money, full stop.
• You can never reclaim funds that have already been spent or that are reserved by a running campaign.

Fund provenance: whose money is whose

Every credit into a client wallet is tagged with its source: agency allocation or client self-funded. That tag follows the money for its whole life, which is what makes the following guarantees possible:

• Clients can withdraw only what they added themselves. Agency allocations are never withdrawable by the client.
• Agencies can reclaim only their own unused allocations. Never client funds, never spent funds.

Spending order: agency funds go first

When a client wallet pays for anything (campaign budget, PR order), agency-allocated funds are consumed before the client's own funds. This is deliberate: it keeps the client's self-funded balance intact and withdrawable for as long as possible, and it means agency budgets get used rather than sitting idle.

If a reserved budget is released (for example, a campaign is stopped), the funds return to the wallet under their original source tag.

Payment methods: who controls what

Every payment method on Mintfunnel has exactly one owner: an agency or a client.

• Agency payment methods are visible and usable only by the agency's authorized roles (Owner and Admin), and only for topping up the central agency wallet.
• Client payment methods belong to the client and fund only the client's own wallet.
• Clients can never see, select, or charge the agency's payment method. It does not appear anywhere in the client's account, including in auto-refill settings.
• Card details live only with the payment processor. Mintfunnel stores no card numbers.
