How Mintfunnel attribution works

Attribution answers one question: which of your marketing actually produced onchain results? Not clicks, not sessions, but wallet connects, mints, purchases, and contract interactions, tied back to the specific channel that brought that person in.

Attribution answers one question: which of your marketing actually produced onchain results? Not clicks, not sessions, but wallet connects, mints, purchases, and contract interactions, tied back to the specific channel that brought that person in.

It works for every channel you run. Mintfunnel ads and PR are measured, and so are Google Ads, Meta, X, TikTok, your Telegram channel, your Discord, organic search, and a link you pasted into a newsletter. You do not need to buy anything from Mintfunnel for attribution to measure your other channels.

How it works

  1. Someone arrives from a channel you tagged. For Mintfunnel ads that tag is added automatically. For everything else, you mint the link in the link builder, or connect the Telegram or Discord bot so your community can mint links themselves.
  2. They land on your site. The tracking snippet reads the tag and remembers it against that visitor's session.
  3. They connect a wallet. Your site reports the connection with one line of code, and Mintfunnel ties that wallet to the visit, and therefore to the channel.
  4. They act onchain, whenever that happens. Once a wallet is attributed to you, Mintfunnel watches it against the contracts you configured. A mint two weeks later still credits back to the original channel.
  5. It appears in your reports, within moments of happening.

This works across domains too. Someone who arrives on your marketing site and converts on a separate mint subdomain is attributed end to end, as long as both are registered.

The attribution window

People rarely convert the moment they arrive. The attribution window is how long Mintfunnel keeps crediting a visit before it stops.

The default is 720 hours, which is 30 days, and it suits most funnels. It is also the longest window you can set. For short-cycle products where a month of credit feels generous, shorten it to one of the other presets: 24 hours, 72 hours, or 7 days.

Changing the window applies to everything going forward, immediately. Historical events are not re-attributed, so the new window only affects future matches.

When someone arrives through several channels within the window, the most recent one before the conversion gets the credit.

Setting it up

Three steps, roughly 15 minutes:

  1. **Install the tracking snippet** and register your site.
  2. Report wallet connects with one `identify()` call in your wallet-connect handler. This is covered in the same article. Without it, Mintfunnel sees traffic but never sees a wallet.
  3. **Define your tracked events**, meaning the onchain actions that count as conversions.

Then tag your channels with the link builder, and connect your ad platforms so conversions push back to them.

What you will see

Once attribution is running, your Overview and the Analytics page show:

  • Attributed connects: wallet connects traceable to a specific channel
  • Unique wallets: distinct wallets, so one person connecting twice counts once
  • Attribution rate: the share of visits that produced a wallet connect, which is the clearest signal of traffic quality
  • Median time to connect: how long people typically take, which tells you whether your window is set sensibly
  • Wallet value signals: a snapshot of balances across major tokens in attributed wallets, for understanding audience quality
  • Onchain conversions: the mints, purchases, swaps, and contract calls you configured

Privacy

Mintfunnel respects cookie consent banners automatically. If a visitor has not consented, nothing is collected. GDPR opt-out is supported, raw IP addresses are not stored, and visitors are identified by opaque IDs rather than personal data.

Common questions

Do I need to set this up per campaign? No. Your account-level settings apply everywhere. You can turn attribution off for an individual Mintfunnel campaign if you need to, but the default is on.

What if several campaigns send traffic to the same page? That is fine. The tag on the inbound link tells Mintfunnel which one to credit.

Does this only work for Mintfunnel ads? No. Any channel you tag with the link builder is measured the same way, and organic and direct traffic still shows up as its own source.

I see a token purchase I do not recognize. It is probably an incoming transfer from another wallet the person controls, a fee refund from a paymaster or smart wallet, or a dust airdrop. Only transfers originating from a contract, such as a DEX router, pool, or marketplace, count as a purchase. Wallet-to-wallet sends are filtered out.

Nothing is showing up. See Troubleshooting Mintfunnel Analytics.
