How to run a CPM campaign

A CPM campaign is built in the same campaign builder as any other Mintfunnel campaign. The only difference is one choice on the Budget step: you pay per impression instead of per click. This walkthrough covers each step, then where to watch results once the campaign is live.

Start from New campaign in the top bar or on the Campaigns page. The builder has five steps: Goal, Targeting, Creative, Budget, and Review.

1. Goal

Pick the objective that matches what you want. Awareness ("Maximize impressions & reach") is the natural fit for CPM, since you are paying to be seen. Add your destination URL on this step too: the page readers land on when they click.

2. Targeting

Choose the countries to show in. Geography is the only required filter. Devices, operating systems, browsers and schedule hours are optional; leave them open until you have data, because tighter targeting means fewer impressions to compete for.

3. Creative

Upload the image and write the headline readers will see. On CPM you pay for every viewable impression whether or not anyone clicks, so a strong image and a headline that names a concrete benefit matter even more than on CPC.

4. Budget

  1. Under How you pay, choose Per impression.
  2. Enter your Max CPM bid: the most you will pay per 1,000 viewable impressions. The field shows the current minimum and bid step (currently a $1.00 minimum and steps of $0.10). You usually pay less than your bid.
  3. Set a Daily budget and a Total budget. Each must cover at least one impression at your bid. The campaign pauses when the total budget is used up.
  4. Choose how the budget is delivered: Fill ASAP spends as soon as qualified traffic is available, and Paced spreads spend evenly through the day.

For how the bid and the auction work, see How CPM pricing works.

5. Review

Check the summary, optionally set a start date (leave it blank to start as soon as the campaign is approved), and leave the launch status on Submit for approval. Then click Launch campaign.

The Mintfunnel Team reviews every campaign before it goes live, usually within one business day. Your budget is reserved while it is in review, and delivery starts automatically once it is approved. You are notified either way. Choose Save as draft instead if you want to finish it later.

Where to watch results

Open the campaign from your Campaigns list.

  • The tiles at the top. Spend is what you have been charged. Viewable impr. is the number of viewable impressions your ad received. eCPM is what you actually paid per 1,000 viewable impressions, usually below your bid.
  • The Impressions panel. Viewable impressions counted, how many were billed to you, how many were filtered and not billed (with the filtered rate), and how much was credited back to your wallet for invalid traffic found after billing.
  • The Pricing card. Confirms the campaign is billed per 1,000 viewable impressions, and shows your CPM bid, the platform floor and the bid steps in effect.

Charges settle about every 5 minutes, so these figures can trail live delivery by a few minutes.

Tips

  • Not serving? Raise your bid in $0.10 steps. Other campaigns may be outbidding you, or some publishers may have a minimum CPM above your bid. If a live campaign wins no impressions for a while, Recommendations will say so and suggest a higher bid.
  • Check your daily budget. It must cover at least one impression at your bid, or the campaign cannot serve.
  • You can switch models later. Open the campaign's Edit page and change How you pay, with a bid in the new model's unit. The change applies a few minutes after you save. Past spend stays as it was billed.
  • Measure outcomes, not just reach. Set up conversions on the campaign's Attribution tab so you can see wallets and onchain value, not only impressions.
